DES Teacher of the Year...Maralyn Faulkenberry is a DeQueen High School graduate. She received her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Arkansas Tech University and her master’s degree in Building Level Leadership from Harding University. Mrs Faulkenberry has taught a total of 24 years for the DeQueen School District in the capacities of first grade teacher, third grade teacher, and is currently serving her third year as De Queen Elementary’s Math Facilitator. She is passionate about her job, her colleagues, her students, and our community. Mrs Faulkenberry truly believes our students are the foundation of our future, and that by nurturing their skills, knowledge, and creativity, we empower them to become leaders, problem-solvers, and change-makers.

Last week, our DES teachers met together with math and literacy facilitators, Maralyn Faulkenberry and Jill Collins, along with building and district level administrators. Teachers celebrated students’ growth and achievement while disaggregating data, and worked collaboratively to make instructional decisions. The “Friends” themed meeting served as a fun reminder that much like the characters in the show, we are all surrounded by a strong network of support.
