DES wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

...Tis the season. DES wishes everyone a happy and healthy holiday season.

Ho ho ho, no grumpy faces allowed! The DES students just scored a free book for the holidays! Every Christmas, they get to pick a book from the library as their festive treat. This year marks the 10th time the DES library has played Santa with its book giveaway. By diving into different stories, kids can explore new people, places, and events that are way outside their usual bubble. Reading is like a magic potion for students—it sparks their imagination and boosts their brainpower! When kids realize how awesome reading is, they can unleash their inner superheroes!

These 5th grade students have joined the IXL 50 Point Club for this semester. Way-to-Go!

Whoever said math is a snooze-fest clearly hasn't met Mrs. Morphew! Her math classes are rolling dice and racking up points in Farkle while mastering the art of multiplying by 10s, 100s, and 1000s. A big shoutout to Mrs. Morphew for turning math into a party!

Yesterday, DES threw a Christmas bash that could make Santa jealous! Mrs. Morphew's class is having a blast with the pop-up masks they crafted. Have a jolly good time, everyone!

Mrs. Collins does an amazing job helping Mrs. Efird’s 3rd grade class learn opinion writing, “The Great Candy Cane Debate.” The students enjoyed using their scientific minds to observe the physical elements of the candy canes. They also liked the treat!

Mrs. Phillips and Mrs Runnels would like to thank Pilgrim's for all they do.

This great bunch of fourth graders have met their math fluency goals on Reflex Math and we’re rewarded with a trip to the book machine! Keep up the good work, 4th Graders!

In Mrs. Gilbert's third-grade class, the students took the timeless story of Stone Soup and set out to create their own delicious dish! Each young chef contributed a unique ingredient, transforming the classroom into a fantastic kitchen. They discovered that sharing is like adding spices—it enhances the flavor of everything! Who would have thought that a group of third graders could cook up a lesson in kindness along with a hearty pot of soup?
