Our Leopard Family would like to congratulate Senior Lady Leopard Jaide Tatum, who signed her Letter of Intent with Henderson State University this week!! Miss Tatum has been a valuable member of the De Queen Leopard and Lady Leopard Track & Field and Cross Country teams for several years, and next fall, she will be hitting the trails for the Lady Reddies.
Head Cross Country Coach Dennis Chaney shared the following statement:
"Jaide Tatum is the type of runner that puts in a lot of miles on her own. She is a talented runner who has made herself even better with her work ethic. She is an excellent teammate who leads by example. She is a two-time All-Conference runner and has helped her team win The 7-4A Conference Championship all four years that she competed. I have been fortunate enough to be her coach throughout her entire cross-country career. I have coached a lot of great, hard-working kids, and she is one of the best. She has a great work ethic, but it was always fun to have her at practice and get an argument started with her. Most importantly, it was so much fun to win with her and see her achieve her goals. Henderson State is getting a great student-athlete!"

READING...There are many benefits for becoming a good reader and the students at De Queen Elementary School have been working hard on making points to join the "AR Points Club". Those who achieved 100 points or more by a deadline were rewarded with a trip to Simple Simon's Pizza. They had a good time and tasty pizza. We are proud of all our students' hard work and continue to encourage them to read, read, read!!! #LeopardPride #LeopardFamily
Jordan Daley & Trenton Nordenger, both seniors in Mrs. Jennifer Collier's Financial Algebra Class, finished 1st in the Stock Market Game and 6th overall in the state out of almost 2000 teams this fall! They are the fourth team at DHS to achieve 1st place in the past five semesters! They received medallions, $125, and a trophy for their efforts.
The Stock Market Game is an online simulation that engages students in grades 4-12 in the world of economics, investing, and personal finance. Each team gets $100,000 (in the simulation) to invest for 12 weeks.
Jordan and Trenton's portfolio made about 28% over that span! Way to go! #LeopardPride #LeopardFamily
The DES Literati Book Fair came to a close last Friday. We want to thank all the students, teachers, and community for participating and cooperating during the week. A special THANK YOU goes to the De Queen Rotary Club for their generous donation to ensure all 3rd graders receive a book from the book fair. The 3rd graders were so happy to pick a book to call their own. Thanks to everyone! #LeopardFamily #leopardpride
