De Queen Elementary has two fifth grade students who are stepping into success and have met the goal of 100% fluency in Multiplication and Division! Gustavo Hernandez and Naomi Jendrik, we are SO PROUD of you! The each got to choose a pair of crazy socks and have their names on the "5th Grade Wall of Fluency Fame". Great things are happening here! #Leopardproud



Technology is everywhere in education. DES is a 1-1 school where teachers are making the most ingenious and effective uses of all the newest tools at their disposal. To keep us connected, we have the greatest IT team: Jay Carver, Gary Stewart, and Craig Sharp with leadership from Nena Land. September 19th, is Technology Professionals Day! Let's show our IT team how much we appreciate them. IT guys, we APPRECIATE your tireless efforts in keeping us connected and up-to-date.


Word of the Month is SAFETY.


Cubs with Character is a program at De Queen Elementary that seeks to recognize positive character traits and behavior in our students. Teachers nominate students weekly for recognition. Teachers also nominate students each month who consistently show good character qualities, and a boy and a girl from each grade level will be chosen to be recognized as Students of the Month from those nominations.


Ka’Ryiah Owens has earned 25 points and now has her Leopard on the Spot on AR board in 5th Grade!

Mrs. Kidd’s 3rd grade class is making traditional Folk Art Tissue Paper Flowers for Hispanic Heritage Month. Tissue paper flowers are used for traditional celebrations, parades, and events. The artist Frida Kahlo uses many flowers in her artwork to show her Hispanic roots.


DES is all about ART in Education week! 5th grade is making Papel Picado banners for Hispanic Heritage Month. Papel Picados’s creations date back to the Aztecs which were one of the first natives of Mexico.


Genesis Nieto is the first third grader to get on the 20 point club wall!


DES is full of Leopard Spirit! (Hawaiian Spirit Dress Week)



Michael Kaious from Mrs. Feemster's homeroom is the first 5th grader to get his leopard on the Accelerated Reader Wall. He already has 32.1 points. #leopardpride


Enjoying Art! Third graders practiced the art of "lines" by drawing lighthouses. Ms Lemser, DES art teacher, also teaches first grade art. Also shown here is first grade primary color art sculpture in progress. Our students love art and Ms Lemser.




Let's find a way to celebrate The Arts during National Arts in Education Week (September 10-16). The Arts are essential to a complete & balanced education. Students K-12+ benefit from artistic learning, innovative thinking, and creativity. The Arts include dance, music, theatre, media arts, literature, design, and visual arts, and is essential for a balanced education. Let's celebrate during the month of September.
