Storm Drain Challenge Unruh's 5th grade Science Class

Hey everyone! Ms. Lemser is inviting all the parents of DeQueen Elementary to check out the awesome student artwork during the Parent/Teacher Conferences on October 17th, 2024. The third graders have crafted some fun landscapes, the fourth graders have put together self-portraits, and the fifth graders are showcasing a variety of cultural art, including papel picado, optical illusions, and name mandalas. We can't wait to see you all at the conferences and show off these talented young artists!

Students in the triad of Mrs. Morphew, Mrs. Pritchett, and Mrs. Wilkerson who met their 9-week AR Goal criteria were rewarded with prizes, their names displayed on the Star Wall, and delicious Sonic slushes! We are so proud of their achievements!

Mrs. Cotten's fifth-grade science students are applying the Engineering Design Process to create a device that can help retrieve objects that have fallen into a drain.

What an amazing group of kids! The 4th graders are showing their spirit in pink to honor those who are fighting cancer or have triumphed over it. #Leopardsfightforacure.

De Queen Elementary proudly received the Spirit Stick during the annual LEOPARD School-wide Pep Rally. This year's event featured a "Pink Out" theme to show support for those battling cancer or who have triumphed over it. The Leopards are dedicated to the fight for a cure. We wish the LEOPARDS the best of luck in tonight's home game against the Hot Springs Trojans!

That’s a newspaper? Developing the habit of reading a newspaper can be quite beneficial, offering a wealth of educational insights. By reading the newspaper, you stay informed and enhance your vocabulary. This week, the students at DES learned about the Arkansas Democrat Gazette and explored concepts like current events, headline news, front page stories, editors, reporters, publishers, and obituaries while engaging with the newspaper.

Mrs. Hanney’s science classes have been exploring the engineering process. Their challenge was to construct the tallest tower possible using just 12 inches of tape and index cards, ensuring it could support a stuffed animal. It looks like there was success!

Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on October 17th. Contact your child's teacher for your scheduled appointment.

Eli Cervantes put in a lot of effort last week and today cleaning up trash to improve our playground. He’s always on the lookout to make sure every piece of litter is taken care of.

Mrs. Wilkerson's 4th graders have been enjoying their science experiments...more on measuring temperature.

Oct. 2, 2024 School Custodian Appreciation Day. We appreciate all you do for our school.
Miss Myrna, Miss Maria, Mr. Martinez,

October 2 is School Custodian's Day! We want to extend a big THANK YOU to our amazing custodians: Maria Hernandez, Francisca Martinez, Refugio Martinez, Maria Osura, and Mryna Ramirez. You play an essential role in our school community. We truly appreciate all the support you provide for our building and students!

The students at DES are gathering food donations to support the Children's Food Pantry. Each grade will earn a point for every food item they bring in. The grade that racks up the most points by October 11th will score a Halloween-themed pizza party. Check out the flyer below for a list of needed items.

It's all about doubling up on learning and effort! The kids are diving into livestock knowledge and figuring out how to showcase their hard work at the shows. During breaks at these events, they tackle their school assignments. Check out Raylee Hundley, a 4th grader, putting in some serious effort on her math lessons. Way to go, Raylee! #LEOPARDPRIDE

Enjoy
